Solitude Aeturnus' first demo Justice For All was released in 1988 (six months before a certain Metallica album appeared with a similar title), and quickly established the band as a unique force in the  metal world.  At a time when the Texas metal scene was dominated by Thrash and Death Metal bands, Solitude Aeturnus took influence from Black Sabbath, Candlemass, and Trouble  and created a wholly unique, melodic brand of Doom Metal.  The lineup for this first demo was John Perez (guitar), Tom Martinez (guitar), Brad Kane (drums), Chris hardin (bass), and Kris Gabeheardt (vocals).

By 1989 Solitude Aeturnus had gone through some lineup changes.  Edgar Rivera now handled guitar duties along with Perez.  Lyle Steadham came onboard as the drummer, but would soon move over to bass as John 'Wolf' Covington was recruited.  It was Steadham who brought his friend Robert Lowe into the band as vocalist.  Lowe's amazing range and passion as a singer helped solidify the sound Solitude Aeturnus would become known and revered for.  This demo version of 'Opaque Divinity' is considered by the band to be superior to the version that appeared on the first album.
